Jonathan has extensive experience in monetizing databases. In 1991, he founded Syntony Marketing Inc., a list owner and database-services company serving the North American direct-marketing community. After six years of over 100% annual growth, Syntony was sold to InfoUSA and Jonathan became president of the Canadian division. In 2004, Jonathan acquired Uthink, an online marketing and market research company that targeted the student demographic. Uthink went from operating with a loss to earning seven-figure profits within the first two years, and was sold in 2008. Currently, Jonathan is CEO of GaggleUp Inc., a group-buying site run in conjunction with Canadian Tire. He is also a consultant for Data Alchemy Inc.
Jonathan has served as Director of the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA), founded and chaired the CMA’s Marketing Technology and Database Intelligence Council, and served on the CMA’s Ethics and Privacy Committee. He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is currently a MaRS volunteer advisor, mentoring local entrepreneurs.
