Paul Singh coming to MaRS
We are extremely pleased to welcome Paul Singh, co-founder of 500 Startups, to MaRS Discovery District this week!
500 Startups is a Mountain View, CA-based seed fund and mentorship-driven accelerator program focused on helping startups succeed through design, data and distribution.
Based in San Francisco and Washington, DC, Paul is an entrepreneur and investor who founded a handful of his own companies and spent some time at PBworks, AOL and Symantec before co-founding 500.
On Monday afternoon, Paul will present, “Moneyball: A Quantitative Approach to Angel Investing.” In this candid, investors-only talk, Paul will describe the tangible factors and economics that influence 500 Startups when deciding to invest in an early-stage company.
The following morning, Paul will meet with the six JOLT startups for a pitch prep workshop, helping them with their 60- to 90-second pitch in preparation for JOLT Demo Day in October. The startups will also gain more insight into the realities of angel investors and venture capitalists.
As a 500 Startups mentor, Paul guides companies with analytics, customer acquisition, engineering, infrastructure, operations, and small and medium-sized business (SMB) expertise. He also has a special interest in financial services & e-commerce, search/social/mobile platforms, personal & business productivity, education & language, family & healthcare and web infrastructure.
During his stay in Toronto, Paul will also meet with other incubators and startups in the Toronto community.
